Bill Gray object reconciliation

Alias chains from Project Pluto matched against local NEOCP identifiers and designations. Names are linked to all locally available observations.

About this view

What you see and why: This view compares Project Pluto object identities and aliases with the local NEOCP archive. Each object link opens its evidence and associated observations.

How to read it: Use the subtabs for matches, missing objects and downloadable text lists. Observation filters refer to local coverage. Similar identifiers are candidates, not confirmed matches; a shared satellite name or the word Multijunk does not prove that two bodies are the same.

Exact and punctuation-normalized aliases may attach records. One-edit similar IDs are displayed as research candidates only; they do not silently merge objects or observations. Satellite names are labels only and never merge objects: 15 repeated names remain separate groups. “Multijunk” is a category rather than an identity; 84 such notices remain separate.

Satellite-name handling: “identified as X” contributes only X. A leading object code was removed from 9 candidate names. The strict filter rejected candidates in 45 groups: 8 ending in “day” or “days”, 4 equal to “1d”, 8 ending in “/kg”, 2 ending in “probably not an ETBO”, and 24 containing more than five words. 4 candidates containing a minor-planet provisional designation are excluded from satellite names and listed in their own tab. The external Cross-ID tab contains 79,768 explicit relations from Great Shefford, Get NEOCP Orbits and MPC RSS; 53,538 are absent or differ locally.
